Supporting athletes in performance, mental health, and life beyond sport.

There’s a lot more to being an athlete than what happens during competition. Pressure, expectations, confidence, injuries, and life outside of sport can all affect how you feel and perform. Therapy can help you build on the strengths you already have while working through the challenges that may be getting in the way.

The Pressures of Being an Athlete

When the Mental Side of Sports Gets Hard

Pressure to perform can show up in many ways. You may overthink mistakes, lose confidence under pressure, struggle with expectations, compare yourself to others, or feel like your sport has stopped being something you enjoy.

Performance Anxiety

Nerves, overthinking, fear of failure, or freezing when the pressure is on.

Confidence &
Perfectionism

Self-doubt, harsh self-talk, difficulty recovering from mistakes.

Burnout &
Motivation

Feeling drained, disconnected from sport, or unsure why you’re doing it.

The Person Behind the Athlete

Your Mental Health Matters Beyond Your Performance

Being an athlete can shape your identity, confidence, relationships, and how you see yourself, but your sport is only one part of who you are. Therapy can help you navigate the pressures and challenges of sport while making space for your well-being and life outside of it.

Training Beyond the Physical

Building Mental Skills for Competition

Therapy can also be a place to intentionally work on the mental side of performance. Together, we can strengthen the skills that help you stay present, respond to setbacks, manage pressure, and compete with greater confidence and consistency.

Focusing & Staying Present

Strengthening attention, reducing distractions, and staying grounded in the moment—on and off the field.

Building Confidence & Self-Trust

Quieting self-doubt, building belief in your abilities, and trusting yourself to show up when it matters most.

Responding to Mistakes

Learning how to bounce back, let go of what’s behind you, and use setbacks as fuel for growth.

Managing Nerves & Pressure

Understanding your body’s stress response and building tools to perform with calm, clarity, and confidence.

Injury, Recovery & Returning to Sport

The experience of injury can extend far beyond the physical. It can mean working through frustration, uncertainty, changes in identity, fear of reinjury, and rebuilding confidence in yourself and your body.

A Perspective Grounded in Sport

Therapy From Someone Who Understands Athletes

Sports have shaped much of who I am. I’ve experienced them as a former Division I collegiate athlete, a longtime coach, a sports physical therapist, and a mom of youth athletes. These experiences give me a unique understanding of the physical and mental sides of sport and the pressures, challenges, and rewards that come with being an athlete, all of which shape my work as a sports psychotherapist.
