Teen & Adolescent Counseling
Navigating adolescence can be challenging, with pressures from school, friendships, family, and social media. Teen counseling offers a safe, nonjudgmental space for young people to explore their thoughts and feelings, build coping skills, and develop self-confidence. It helps teens better understand themselves, manage stress, improve communication, and make healthier choices, empowering them to thrive both now and in the future.

Finding the right counselor for your teen is very important because a strong bond between counselor and teen helps therapy work better. This bond, called the therapeutic alliance, is key to real progress. Therapy is a partnership, so you and your teen should feel sure I’m the right fit. My goal is for both of you to feel understood. If another therapist would be a better match, I’m happy to help you find one.

I begin by meeting with the parent or caregiver to understand your teen’s needs and goals, and then I meet with the teen individually. My priority in therapy is making sure we’re a good fit for each other, because research shows that a strong connection—called the therapeutic alliance—is key to meaningful change. Therapy works best as a partnership, and it’s important that both you and your teen have the chance to decide if I’m the right therapist. My hope is that your teen feels truly understood as we work together to set goals and create a personalized plan that supports growth and well-being.
I will continue to meet with parents as needed, and in some cases, I may offer sessions that include both the teen and caregivers if it’s helpful. Along the way, we’ll check in to make sure therapy continues to meet your teen’s needs and feels right for them. This approach helps ensure our work is both effective and aligned with their individual path.
