Meet Dr. Priya
MA, APCC, PT, DPT
As an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, I offer both in-person and virtual counseling to clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and couples as they navigate life’s challenges, such as depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, and major life transitions. I believe the foundation of effective counseling begins with creating a safe, supportive space where we can build a collaborative relationship.
Together, we work toward your goals at a pace and in a way that feels right for you. My approach is grounded in a humanistic perspective that includes the belief that every person has the capacity for growth and change. I integrate a variety of therapeutic methods, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, strength-based, narrative therapy, existential and solution-focused strategies, to provide care tailored to each client’s unique needs.
Education & Experience
I grew up on the East Coast in an immigrant family and went on to graduate with honors from Columbia University in New York City with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. I later earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy with high honors from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.
For the past 13 years, I have worked as an orthopedic and sports physical therapist, helping individuals recover from injury, restore function, and enhance performance. I am a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), credentials I’ve held for over a decade. These certifications, combined with years of hands-on experience, allow me to bring advanced clinical and performance expertise to my work with athletes—supporting them through recovery, return-to-play, and achieving their full potential.
Over time, I noticed how physical injuries often extend beyond the body, deeply affecting emotional and mental well-being. This awareness inspired me to pursue a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University in Colorado, expanding my work to include both physical and emotional healing.
Having grown up navigating multiple cultural spaces, I understand firsthand the complexities of identity and belonging. As a wife and mother of two, I also relate to the realities of balancing relationships, parenting, and career transitions. Frequent family moves to support my husband’s career have given me a unique perspective on the challenges—and personal growth—that come with starting over and building community in new places. These life experiences allow me to connect authentically with clients from diverse backgrounds and life paths.
