Counseling
Athletes often navigate mental health challenges tied to performance expectations, pressure, and personal identity. Therapy creates a supportive space for athletes to process these experiences, manage anxiety or depression, and develop the mental strength and resilience needed to thrive.
Athlete Mental Health & Performance Specialist
The Perspective I Bring to Athlete Counseling
I am a former Division I lacrosse player, a triathlete, a certified yoga instructor, and bring over 20 years of coaching experience from youth through high school varsity levels into the counseling room with athletes. As a former player and coach, as well as a mom of youth athletes, I have experienced both the challenges and growth that come from competing. Along with my personal experiences of sports throughout my life, I also work as a physical therapist helping athletes of all ages recover from injuries and return to the activities they love.
I personally understand the connection between physical and emotional health, having navigated multiple surgeries during my own athletic career. For me, sports have not just a part of my life, but they have been the defining feature of my identity. I understand firsthand the physical and emotional devastation that can come with injury which fuel my passion for supporting athletes facing mental health challenges.
Athletes often face common mental health challenges due to the demands of competition and life, including depression, anxiety, identity struggles, and, at times, the complex emotions that can accompany injury and return to competition. My experiences as an athlete, coach, mother of athletes, sports physical therapist and mental health counselor drive my passion and skill in helping athletes face challenges and build strength, confidence, and balance in sports and life.
